近代性とその彼岸：
東南アジアの視点から「人間の安全保障」と「サステイナビリティ」の哲学を問い直す

本ワークショップは、今日、東アジア、東南アジアの人々がともに、しかし、異なった仕方で直面する地球規模の課題に関して、実際にそうしたグローバル・イシューを考えるうえで糸口を提供してくれるだろう現場に立ち、意見を交換しようというものである。具体的には、「近代国民国家」（そこでの生と死の管理）と「多文化主義」をキーワードに、タイ、および他の東南アジア諸国、東アジアから参加者を募り、3つの場所、すなわち、法医学博物館、仏教寺院、ミャンマー人コミュニティにおいて現地の専門家を交えながら、イシューの構成について議論する。そうすることで、グローバル・イシューに関するローカルな視点からの解釈の可能性をさぐるとともに、西欧近代的なイシューの解釈を再考しようというのがねらいである。
本ワークショップは、GLOCOL Bangkokを主催とする連続ワークショップGLOCOL BANGKOK SEMINAR SERIESの第1回であり、GLOCOL Bangkok Deskを交流ポイントとした東・東南アジアの複眼的で緩やかな研究ネットワークをむすぶ試み的なとりくみである。
